This cake is ready to take off for birthday fun! Decorated with colorful candy balloons, this Birthday Balloon Cake is perfect for first birthday parties. Use Candy Melts candy to make the balloons and the sprinkle confetti, then top your cake with a candle or a birthday message and you're all set to celebrate!

  1. Tint candy. Melt Bright White candy and drizzle pouch according to package instructions.

    Using Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange and Pink candy colors, tint 4 oz. melted white candy green, blue, yellow, orange and pink. Tint 4 oz. melted white candy teal using color combination provided. Combine Blue and Green candy colors to get teal color shown. Keep candy warm on warming tray.

  2. Make balloons. Cover two cake boards with parchment paper.

    Prepare decorating bags, separately, with melted green, blue, yellow, orange, pink and teal candy. Cut ¼ in. off tip of bags.

    One one board, pipe four balloons of each color. Largest should be about 2½ in. and smallest should be about 1 in. in size. Before candy sets, pipe white highlight on each balloon using candy drizzle pouch.

    Pipe small tip on end of each balloon.

    Chill all balloons until set, about 10 to 15 minutes.

  3. Make confetti. Using 9 in. spatula, swipe remaining candy on second cake board until very thin. Chill until set, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool four cake layers. Trim one layer to 1 in. tall. Fill and stack layers for 7 in. high cake.

    Ice cake smooth.

  5. Decorate cake. Position balloons around cake, using toothpick to draw lines for strings.

    Break up swiped candy into small pieces. Position candy confetti around sides of cake.
