Baby Cake Quartet
Additional Information
Step 1
1 DAY IN ADVANCE
Bake and cool four 6 in. round cakes. Cakes are one layer, 2 in. high. Position cakes on cake plates.
Step 2
Ice cakes. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Tint portions light royal blue, rose, kelly green and lemon yellow/golden yellow combination (for yellow). Use spatula to ice smooth one cake in each color. Use tip 4 to pipe bead bottom border in matching color.
Step 3
Make fondant dots. Use 20 in. fondant roller with blue guide rings to roll out chocolate fondant 1/16 in. thick. Use narrow end of tip 10 to cut 160 dots (40 per cake). Use tip 4 dots of icing to attach dots to cake sides, 3/4 in. apart.
Step 4
Make fondant letter toppers. Use 20 in. fondant roller with orange guide rings to roll out white fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use ribbon cutter with straight wheels and 1/4 in. and 1/2 in. spacers with two locks (to create 3/4 in. divisions) to lightly score check pattern vertically and horizontally on fondant. Be careful not to cut through fondant. Use largest cutter (5 1/8 in.) from 4-pc. circles nesting metal cutter set to cut background circle. Brush with white Pearl Dust.
For letters, roll out chocolate fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use B, A and Y cutters from A-B-C and 1-2-3 cutter set to cut letters. Use damp brush to attach to background circle. Position circle on each cake top.

Give your cake a great quilted look by embossing lines in a lattice pattern. Use the single-wheel Cutter/Embosser to create the imprinted lines. It?s a textured look that?s perfect for baby or garden-themed cakes.
