About 3 days in advance: Make fondant trims. For hat, tint 10 oz. fondant black. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons Gum-Tex. Roll out 1/8 in. thick. Use pattern to cut full hat brim (flip pattern at dotted line for second half). Let dry on cornstarch-dusted board. For hair, tint 8 oz. fondant dark gray. Add one teaspoon Gum-Tex. Roll out 1/8 in. thick. Cut 50 strands in various sizes from 1/2 in. to 3/4 in. wide, tapering to points. Set on cut side, shape waves and let dry on cornstarch-dusted board.
Bake and cool 1-layer cake. Tint fondant: 18 oz. green, 10 oz. black, 4 oz. orange, 1/2 oz. golden yellow (buckle), 1/2 oz. lemon yellow (eyes); reserve 2 oz. white. Roll out 1/8 in. thick as needed. Prepare and cover bottom half (face area) cake with green fondant and top half (hat) with black fondant. Attach hat brim at seam using melted candy in cut parchment bag. Cut a 1 x 11 in. hat band; attach using damp brush. Cut a 1 1/4 in. square buckle; cut away center and attach.
Use pattern to cut eyes; attach. Cut 1/16 in. wide strip eyelids; attach. For each eyebrow, cut three strips, 1/2 in. wide x 2 in. long. Use knife to cut away random triangles on top edge. Attach using melted candy. Shape 2 in. fondant ball into pointed nose, 2 in. long x 2 in. high; attach. Shape 1/2 in. nostrils, assorted warts and 4 x 3/8 in. log mouth; attach. Cut square teeth; attach. Attach strands of hair with melted candy.
