In advance: Make animal cookies. Prepare and roll out dough. Use
cutters from set to cut giraffe and 1 each lion, zebra/horse, rhino,
hippo, gorilla, snake, alligator (use lizard cutter, cutting off 2 top feet).
Bake and cool.
Ice and decorate cookies. To ice
cookies, outline using tip 3 and full-strength
color flow (omit tail area on zebra); flow in using
thinned color flow. Decorate animals on waxed paper using
full-strength color flow.
For all: Pipe tip 1 or 2 dot
eyes, pupils and nose/
nostrils, outline mouths. Let dry on waxed
paper-covered boards.
For giraffe: Use tip 2 to
outline and fill in spots;
pat smooth. Pipe tip 2
pull-out tail tip. Pipe tip
2 outline ear and tail.
For rhino:
Use tip 2 to
outline and
fill in horns
and inner ear.
Pipe tip 2 tail
and details.
For lion: Pipe
tip 2 outline
tail and ear; fill in inner ear
(pat smooth). Pipe pull-out
mane, claws and tail tip. For
gorilla: Pipe tip 2 outline
details at tummy and leg.
For hippo: Use tip 2 to fill
in inner ear; pat smooth.
Pipe outline tail and details.
For zebra: Use tip 2 to pipe
pull-out mane (alternate
colors), outline and fill in
stripes (pat smooth) and
outline tail with tip 2 and
pull-out tip.
For snake:
Add tip 2 dots.
For alligator:
Pipe tip 2 zigzag scales and
pull-out teeth.
When dry, attach
2 Lollipop Sticks to back of each animal (except snake and alligator)
using melted candy; allow 1 1/2 in. to extend at bottom to insert into
cake.
