Molded fondant gems cover your cake in total texture.
You can see how great they look on their own. But look what happens when you add a romantic fantasy flower, a dressy bow or a golden anniversary topper.
(Extra time has been allotted due to the number of gems needed.)
Make number topper. Tint 6 oz. gum paste golden yellow. Use 9 in. fondant roller with purple guide rings to roll out yellow gum paste 1/8 in. thick. Use knife and pattern to cut numbers.
Use brush with gold Pearl Dust/ lemon extract mixture to paint numbers. Let dry 48 hours on cornstarch-dusted board.
Use melted Candy Melts candy to attach a lollipop stick to each number, leaving 5 in. extended at bottom to insert in cake. Chill until firm, 3 to 5 minutes.
Make gems. Tint 31 oz. fondant golden yellow. Use 7 oz. yellow fondant and jewelry fondant & gum paste mold to make 455 round gems. Paint gems with gold Pearl Dust/ lemon extract mixture. Let dry 30 minutes on cornstarch-dusted board. Cover with plastic wrap until needed.
Attach gems. Use piping gel in a cut parchment bag to pipe a dot on back of gems; attach to cake. Begin with a row at bottom of each cake, then place successive rows in the spaces between gems of preceding row. Continue over top of 6 in. cakes.
