Step 1

In advance: Make ears and horns.

Tint 10 oz. fondant yellow. Roll out 1/4 in. thick. Use pattern to cut 4 ears (flip pattern for 3rd and 4th). Attach matching layers, securing with damp brush. Let dry on waxed paper-covered board.

Roll out remaining yellow 1/8 in. thick. Cut a 3 x 3 in. square. Set Cookie Treat Stick across fondant edge with 1/2 and 2 1/2 in. exposed on either end. Brush fondant with damp brush. Roll up fondant to cover stick, being sure fondant adheres to stick. Cut off excess and smooth seam. Repeat for 2nd horn. Roll two 1 1/4 in. diameter balls; push onto exposed 1/2 in. of sticks for tips. Stand in craft block to dry.

Step 2

Also: Make leaves.

Tint 12 oz. fondant green. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons Gum-Tex. Roll out 1/8 in. thick. Cut 35 leaves using largest Cut-Out. Place leaves on thin foam and draw veins with veining tool. Let dry in various positions on cornstarch-dusted large Flower Formers. Reserve excess fondant. And: Cover base board with 70 oz. blue fondant; reserve remaining blue.

Step 3

Bake and cool guitar cake and 2 mini loaves. Cut 3 1/2 in. off neck of guitar. Position guitar on a cut-to-fit Cake Board; position on prepared base board, 5 1/2 in. from top edge.

For eyeballs, using 2 oz. reserved white fondant, roll 1 1/2 in. diameter balls; attach with icing. Mark muzzle area; build up and round area with icing, about 1 in. thick. Cover cake and edges and sides of ears with tip 16 stars. Attach ears to board. Pipe tip 3 dot pupils, nostrils and outline mouth. Insert horns in cake.

Step 4

Prepare loaf cakes and cover with green fondant; position horizontally at bottom of neck, centered. Attach leaves with icing. Tint reserved blue fondant a darker shade; roll out 1/8 in. thick. Cut name and age. Attach to board using damp brush. Sprinkle on confetti.

To create a variety of curved shapes, use both sides of Flower Formers to dry leaves. You can also add a colorful flair to leaves by brushing them with a mix of clear vanilla and icing color or use pearl dust and brush color onto leaves.

The star tip creates the most celebrated, easily accomplished decorations! The serrated edges of the star tip make ridges in the icing as you squeeze it out. Because fill in requires so much piping from the same bag, keep replenishing icing in bag.
