Bake and cool 12 cupcakes and a 1-layer round cake.
Trim cake to 1 in. high. Use circle metal cutter to
cut out cake; ice smooth. Use rotary cutter to cut
one strip, 1 in. x 9 in., from white edible paper. Use
red and green edible markers to draw plaid design
with lines in various widths, 1/4 to 1/2 in. apart. Let
dry. Attach strip around base using edible adhesive.
