This design fits winter like a glove! Cut and shaped mini cakes are coated with a pour on layer of melted candy. The pipe name and molded snowflake are candy too, so they?re just as sweet.

Step 1

In advance: Make snowflakes. Use melted white candy in cut parchment bag to fill in snowflake detail of candy mold. Tap to settle; chill until firm.

Step 2

Bake and cool 1 in. high cake in Jelly Roll pan. Use knife to cut mittens using cookie cutter (reverse to cut shape) as a guide. Ice bottom with melted candy; set, candy side down, on waxed paper-covered boards. Chill until firm.

Step 3

Place candy side down on Cooling Grid set over pan. Cover with melted candy. Chill until firm. Using melted candy in cut parchment bag, overpipe cuff; let set. Pipe red name and attach snowflake; chill to set.

Adding color details to candies makes them more realistic and much more fun! For large areas of color, it's best to paint the melted candy right in the mold before the whole candy is molded using a decorator brush. Or, for very small details like vines, mouths and messages, melted candy should be piped onto molded candies using a parchment bag with a small hole cut in the tip.
