Fondant Veil

Dress up your cake to match the bride’s gown with the impressive Fondant Veil technique. The lush drape is formed using dowel rods to shape the pleats.

Step 1

For base underneath each veil, shape a 7 oz. piece of fondant into a 4 1/2 in. long teardrop shape. Position between 8 in. cakes, with wide end at cake base. Measure 8 oz. pieces of fondant. Roll out 1/4 in. thick. Cut an 8 1/2 in. wide x 7 in. long strip for each veil. Position 5 plastic dowel rods over and under strip to form pleats.

Step 2

Remove dowel rods. Gather and pinch top ends of veil together to shape. Position over teardrop shape on cake.

Step 3

Position over teardrop shape on cake.
