Fondant Bugs
Ingredients:

Instructions:
Step 1
Tint fondant as follows: 2 oz. dark blue, 3 oz. orange, 3 oz. yellow, 5 oz. rose, 6 oz. black, 6 oz. violet, 1 oz. green. Add 1/4 teaspoon Gum-Tex to the blue, orange and yellow fondant, 1/2 teaspoon to rose and violet. Add a little Gum-Tex to a 1 in. ball of black for small bug antennae. Make 2 wings for all winged insects. Roll out fondant 1/8 in. thick.
Step 2
For butterfly wings, use third smallest heart cutter from Plastic Nesting Hearts set. Let the wings dry. Roll 1 1/4, 1 and 3/4 in. diameter balls for body; position on toothpick. Roll very thin 1 in. long logs for antennae and small balls for tips. Attach wings with damp brush. Roll and flatten small balls of fondant for eyes and pupils; roll thin logs for mouths. Attach features using damp brush. Use a toothpick to poke holes in head and ball tips for antennae. Assemble and position antennae; secure with melted candy.
Step 3
For spotted bug wings, use smallest heart cutter from Plastic Nesting Hearts set. Let the wings dry. Roll 2 and 1 1/4 in. balls for body; position on toothpick. Roll and flatten small balls for spots; attach to body with damp brush. Roll 3/4 in. cone for stinger. Insert wings and attach stinger damp brush. Roll and flatten small balls of fondant for eyes and pupils; roll thin logs for mouths. Attach features using damp brush.
Step 4
For blue bug wings, use smallest heart cutter from Plastic Nesting Hearts set. Let the wings dry. Roll 1 and 1 1/4 in. diameter balls for body; position on toothpick. Roll very thin 1 in. long logs for antennae and small balls for tips. When pieces are dry, attach to body with damp brush. Roll and flatten small balls of fondant for eyes and pupils; roll thin logs for mouths. Attach features using damp brush.
Step 5
For spider, roll 2 1/4 and 1 1/4 in. balls for body; position on toothpick. Roll 3 x 1/4 in. logs for legs; shape with a 45º angle. Roll small balls for feet. Insert spider legs in body. Roll and flatten small balls of fondant for eyes and pupils; roll thin logs for mouths. Attach features using damp brush.
Step 6
For inchworm, roll balls for body in graduating sizes, 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/4, 1 and 3/4, in. diameter. Roll and flatten small balls of fondant for eyes and pupils; roll thin logs for mouths. Attach features using damp brush.
