Step 1

1 DAY IN ADVANCE

Make candy clay vegetables. Prepare one recipe candy clay with white Candy Melts candy following recipe directions. Divide into thirds. Reserve one portion white for onions. Use green and red candy colors from garden and primary candy color sets, to tint remaining portions for green and red peppers.

Shape clay for peppers into balls, 3/4 in. to 7/8 in. dia. Use hands to shape into assorted triangular slices, about 1 1/4 in. wide x 2 in. long. Make one or two in each color for each kabob. Place on parchment paper; let dry at least 1 hour. Melt 3 oz. white candy according to package directions. Divide in half; use red and green candy colors to tint. Use brush to paint top side of pepper slices to look like skin. Place on parchment paper-covered board; chill until firm, 3 to 5 minutes.

For onions, shape white candy clay into balls, 5/8 in. dia. Shape balls into curved slices, about 3/4 in. wide x 2 1/4 in. long. Make one or two for each kabob. Place on parchment paper; let dry at least 1 hour. Use tip of knife to score lines for onion rings.

Step 2

Make cake pops for cubed meat. Prepare batter for cake pops. Use no-taste red icing color to tint batter light pink. Prepare cake pops following recipe directions. Use 1 tablespoon of mixture to shape irregular meat cubes, three for each kabob. Place on parchment paper-covered boards. Chill following recipe directions.

Step 3

Cover cake pops with candy. For meat cubes, separately melt 2 oz. light cocoa and remaining white Candy Melts candy according to package directions. Combine melted light cocoa with melted white candy. Use red candy color from primary candy color set to tint candy to resemble cooked meat. Use fork from candy dipping set to dip cake cubes in melted candy. Place on parchment paper-covered boards. Chill until firm, 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 4

Assemble kabobs. Slide meat and vegetable pieces onto cookie treat stick. Use melted candy to secure on stick. For grilled color, paint edges with a mixture of black icing color, brown Color Dust and lemon extract. Let set.
