In advance: Make spider topper. For body, use mini
ball cavities and black candy to make two 1/4 in. thick
shells. Attach halves with melted candy,
positioning seam vertically. Slide bottom over warm
cookie sheet to flatten slightly.
Copy leg patterns, reversing for four legs per side;
tape patterns to board and cover with waxed paper.
Add a few drops of water to 4 oz. melted black candy
to thicken; place in parchment bag, then tape tip 2 to
outside of bag. Pipe legs; let set.
Turn over legs and
overpipe with black candy.
Pipe details on spider?s
body using melted candy in cut bag: Pipe white and
green eyes, black pupils and white zigzag smile. Let
set. Attach legs to body with melted candy; let set.
Bake and cool 2-layer cake and 24 cupcakes. Ice cake
smooth; divide into 12ths.
Pipe tip 45 band top and
bottom borders. Use piping gel method to
transfer bone pattern at division marks. Pipe in bones
with tip 12.
Cover cupcake tops with tip 2A swirls. Insert
picks from combo pack. Position spider on cake top
