Step 1

Several days in advance, use royal icing and tip 103 to make 135 lilies on 15/8 inch lily nail. Add tip 16 star center and position 5 pearl stamens in each. Grate non-toxic chalk using tea strainer. Brush chalk on dried lilies. Make extras to allow for breakage and let dry.

Step 2

Glue legs on 14 inch plate with glue gun. Prepare cakes and cake boards for center column construction. Ice cakes smooth. Pipe tip 18 rosette on bottoms of lilies in buttercream and position on cake tops. Position double rows of pearl swags on cake sides. Add tip 366 pull-out leaves on all top borders and tip 4 bead bottom borders.

Step 3

At reception: position extra cake circles on plates before adding decorated cakes to level. Attach pearl beading to edge of boards with royal icing. Position ornament on cake?.

Note: The top tier is often saved for the first anniversary. The number of servings given does not include the top tier.

?Warning: Always place a separator plate on the cake before you position any figurine or ornament. This protects both the cake and your keepsake. For extra stability, secure your figurine to the plate with double-sided craft tape.

A variety of leaves will help give your cakes a more realistic garden feel. Add piping gel to your icing to help keep your leaves from breaking.

The Lily looks best when petals are more pointed. If petals split while piping, slightly widen tip with a thin spatula. Or, add a teaspoon of piping gel to 1 cup stiff royal icing.

The bead shape makes impressive borders outlines and accents on letters and designs; also a cute trim on clothing and gingerbread houses. The basis for making piped hearts and figure piping.
