Celebrate a sparkling wedding reception or silver anniversary in style with this stunning Silver Shimmer cake! Decorated with Ready-To-Use Rolled Fondant, this cake is made even more dazzling with silver and white Pearlized Sugar.
In advance, make letter: Roll out gum paste 1/4 in. thick on cornstarch-dusted board. Use
pattern to cut out letter; let dry 48 hours.
Brush with Piping Gel and cover with Silver
Sugar. When dry, attach Lollipop Sticks to
back using Fondant Adhesive; let 4 in. extend
below letter to insert into cake. Let dry.
Also in advance:
Prepare and cover cake base with white
rolled fondant. Let dry overnight.
Attach ribbon around edge, overlapping
Ends and securing with double-stick tape.
Bake and cool 2-layer cakes. Prepare and
cover with rolled fondant. Prepare
for Stacked Construction, but do not
stack. Use Cake Divider to mark 6 in. cake
into 8ths and 10 in. cake into 12ths. Roll out
fondant 1/8 in. thick, cut strips 1 in. wide. Brush
with Piping Gel and cover with Silver Sugar.
Center over marks and attach to cake sides
using Piping Gel; trim as needed. Repeat with
1/4 in. wide strips covered with White Sugar
and placed midway between silver strips.
Stack cakes and position on prepared board.
Roll a fondant log 3/8 in. diameter x 28 in. long.
Brush with Piping Gel and sprinkle with white
sugar. Position for 6 in. cake bottom border,
trimming as needed. Repeat with 35 in. long
log for 10in. cake border.
