Step 2
Step 2

Using spatula, ice cookie smooth with icing; this will help the pull-out dot petals adhere. Attach iced cookie to flower nail with dot of icing.

Step 3
Step 3

Hold bag at a 45° angle at 3:00 (9:00 for left-handed decorators). Pipe a circle of tip 233 pull-out dots along the outside edge of the cookie, turning the nail as you pipe.

Step 4
Step 4

Continue piping circles of pull-out dots inside the previous row until the surface of the cookie is completely covered.

Step 5

Hints:

Shaggy mums can be piped directly onto an iced cake. Omit the vanilla wafer; pipe a large (about 1-1/4 in.) icing dot on the cake surface to use as the mum base.

Shaggy mums can be piped using royal icing. Omit cookie and pipe a mound of icing as the base. Allow to dry 24 hours.

Piped leaves add a finished look to the shaggy mum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have made these a couple of times. People at work really liked them. My son and his friend loved it when I made them in purple and white, their school colors!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They are a messy looking flower, but still fun to do. I made the little hairy monsters cupcakes for a birthday in bright orange and blue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Shaggy mums are easy to do. Make sure you use longer strands on the outside and shorter ones when you get the middle. The only thing i don't like is that it looks like a mop of hair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I think these looks messy at best. I think they look like a dust mop. Not very exciting but lots of people like this flower. There is truly something out there for everyone! Thank you Wilton!!!!
