Step 1

Make bows one day in advance. Knead 1/8 teaspoon of Gum-Tex into 1 in. ball of pink fondant. Use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out 1/16 in. thick. Use knife to cut four strips for bow loops, 1/2 in. wide x 1 1/2 in. long, and two strips for center knots, 3/8 in. wide x 1 1/4 in. long. Make bow loops, use damp brush to brush to attach ends and then pinch ends. Use center knot strips to wrap around bow loops. Let dry overnight.

Step 2

Make mini cakes. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool mini cakes. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Tint small amount black; reserve majority white. Use spatula and icing to attach skull halves together.

Step 3

Glaze mini cakes. Prepare confectioners? sugar glaze icing following recipe directions. Use brush to brush glaze on mini cakes. Let dry 20 minutes. Repeat for a thicker coating if necessary.

Step 4

Make hair and braids. Use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out 1 1/2 in. ball of purple fondant 1/16 in. thick. Use second largest circle cutter (4 in.) from set to cut out shape. Use knife to cut out triangle pieces to form bangs on one side of circle. Use knife to make definition of hair. Use glaze to attach to head.

For each braid, roll three balls of purple fondant, 3/4 in., separately, into logs, 5 in. long x 1/4 in. thick. Braid logs together.

For rubber bands, use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out pink fondant 1/16 in. thick. Use knife to cut out two strips, each 1/4 in. wide x 1 1/2 in. long. Use damp brush to attach strips to bottom of braids.

Use damp brush to attach braids to top of head and bows to braids.

Step 5

Make facial features. Use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out purple fondant 1/16 in. thick. Use pan as guide and knife to cut out eye sockets and nose. Also, cut out eyebrows, 1 in. long x 3/16 in. thick, and eyelashes, 1/2 in. long x 1/16 in. thick. Use glaze to attach to mini cakes.

For cheeks, use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out pink fondant 1/16 in. thick. Use narrow end of tip 2A to cut two circles. Use glaze to attach to mini cakes.

Use glaze to attach candy eyeballs to mini cakes.

Use tip 2 and black icing to pipe mouth following pattern on teeth.
