Star Tree

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Spray Wilton's 12x18x1 Jelly Roll/Cookie Sheet with vegetable pan spray. Melt margarine in large saucepan and add marshmallows. Cook and stir until melted. Stir in spices. Add cereal and mix well. Spread into prepared pan. Pack evenly into pan and immediately cut out stars with Wilton's Christmas Cookie Tree Kit. Lay out on waxed paper until assembly, so they won't stick together.

Use 2 recipes of crispy treats for the Star Tree, with or without spices.

*Hint: For best results spray spoon, pot, spatula and cutters with vegetable spray before using. This will prevent the crispy treats from sticking.

Decorating Instructions:
Beginning with the largest star cutter, cut out 2 crispy stars; using the next size cutter, cut out 1 crispy star. Repeat the sequence of cutting 2 stars, then 1 star – always using the next smallest cutter. Continue until all sizes are cut.

Assemble tree starting at the base and alternating star points with stacking. Attach and secure stars in place with Wilton's Ready-To-Use Decorator Icing. Attach Wilton's Petite Christmas Tree Light Bulb Icing Decorations and candy coated chocolate dots using Wilton's Decorating Tip #3, Disposable Decorating Bag and buttercream icing.

Creating Leaves:
Pipe leaves on the tree with buttercream icing tinted with Wilton's Kelly Green Icing Color. With Tip #352, position decorating bag at a 45°angle. Hold the tip so that it lightly touches the surface with the wide opening parallel to surface. Squeeze hard to build up the base, and at the same time, lift the tip slightly. Relax pressure as you pull the tip toward you, drawing the leaf to a point. Stop squeezing and lift away.
