Lebkuchen cookies will bring old world flavor to your holiday table. This well-spiced recipe can be baked and decorated or simply drizzled with a sugar glaze.

Tools:

  • Plastic wrap or bag
  • Rolling Pin
  • Christmas Cookie Molds
  • 14-1/2" x 20" Non-Stick Cooling Grid

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup almond paste
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed aniseed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • vegetable pan spray

Makes: Serves 4-5 molds.

Preheat oven to 325°F. Spray and flour molds. Tap to remove excess flour. Beat together almond paste, honey, sugar and eggs.

Combine flour, spices and salt; stir into egg mixture to make dough stiff (dough will be sticky).

Divide dough into each mold, using plastic wrap or a plastic bag sprayed with vegetable pan spray on fingers to prevent sticking.

Prick dough with fork. Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes. Remove from molds. Cool.

**Place aniseed in plastic bag and crush with rolling pin
