Molding and Melting:
Start with Wilton Candy Melts™. These easy-melting wafers are perfect for molding fun shapes.
DOUBLE BOILER - easy melting
MICROWAVE - fast and convenient, using glass containers or disposable decorating bags; melt on half power or defrost for one minute. Stir. Continue to melt on half power and stir at 30-second intervals until completely melted. Pour into molds.
ELECTRIC SKILLET - ideal for melting more than one color or flavor, in separate containers
SLOW-COOKER – perfect for melting large amounts (3-1/2 to 5 lbs.) of Candy Melts™
CANDY MELTING PLATE – like an artist's palette, with 11 spaces for melting small amounts of Candy Melts™ colors when "painting" in details
IMPORTANT TIP: Avoid water contact when making candy.
To Mold or Make Lollipops:
All you do is fill, chill and unmold! Pour melted Candy Melts into dry molds, tap molds gently to remove air bubbles. Refrigerate filled molds until bottoms of molds appear frosty or until candy is firm. Remove candy by inverting mold and tapping gently. Trim excess coating from molded candy with a sharp knife.
Painting:
It's easy to mold different areas of color-use a decorator brush to "paint" the mold with melted Candy Melts, refrigerate a few seconds until coating hardens and then fill the mold to top with melted candy. Follow molding instructions above. For best results, always fill in one section of the mold at a time and let set before adding more colors.
Layering:
To mold different layers of color, pour each color to desired height and let partially set one color at a time.
Decorating Molded Candy:
When you want to add color to the outside of molded candy, use a parchment or disposable decorating bag filled with melted candy. Cut a small opening in the tip and pipe candy where you need it.
Flavoring:
You can add your favorite tastes to Candy Melts--just add about 1/4 teaspoon of Wilton oil-based Candy Flavor to 12-14 oz. (1 package) of melted Candy Melts. Never use alcohol-based flavorings since they will cause coatings to harden.
