Planning a Super, SuperBowl Party

What would the Super Bowl be without Super Bowl parties? January heats up every year when the Super Bowl, traditionally one of the most-watched television programs, brings people indoors for an exciting game, notable commercials and an overall great time.

"Super Bowl parties have become a reason for people just to get together in the middle of the winter. Not everybody comes to watch the game,says Nancy Siler, Manager of Consumer Affairs at Wilton Industries. "A football theme and a fabulous spread of party foods keeps the atmosphere festive and informal while giving the host an opportunity to be creative.

Not everyone can be in sunny, warm Atlanta on January 30. Chances are most people will be confined indoors, so start your indoor tailgate party off with a comfort food such as chili. Remember to have fixin's for your guests, including onions, cheese and hot sauce (for those who need the heat!). Cornmeal Crackers made with the Football Cookie Stamp or Jalapeno Corn Muffins in football baking cups are delicious, fun, easy alternatives to oyster crackers. You might try a regional comfort food in honor of one of the teams, such as New England Clam Chowder (New England Patriots), gumbo or jambalaya (New Orleans Saints).

Now it's time to really impress your guests with football-decorated foods. Using Wilton's First and Ten Football Pan and refrigerated bread dough, bake a few loaves of bread to make a variety of sandwiches that can be sliced into finger-food portions.
