Gourmet Goodies Replace the Usual Santa Snacks

Great Treat Ideas Santa is Sure to be Jolly For

For years, Santa Claus has traveled the world bringing presents to good boys and girls. For years, Santa has squeezed down narrow chimneys. And for years, he’s consumed the same old cookies and milk! We have decided Santa deserves a break. Go gourmet this December 24th! After all, doesn’t Santa deserve something special for all his years of dedicated service?

“The holidays are a time to spend with loved ones and to express your appreciation for those who make it magical,“ said Nancy Siler, vice president of consumer affairs, Wilton Enterprises. “Wilton has created some delicious gourmet treats that will not only be a hit with Santa, but with your little elves as well.”

Surprise Santa

Why not leave Santa a present this year? With Peppermint Package Cookies he’ll be ho-ho-hoing all the way back to the North Pole. Just prepare sugar cookie dough and mix in finely crushed peppermint candy. The Wilton Gifts Galore Stencil-A-Cookie™ Cutter Set cuts the dough into perfect gift package shapes. Bake, then use the accompanying stencil to decorate for cookies that look – and taste – like the giving season itself.

Catch Snowflakes on Your Tongue

Don’t worry, our Sparkly Snowflake Blondies don’t melt indoors! And it’s a good thing because these easy-to-make treats are perfect for satisfying even Santa’s sweet tooth. Using the Wilton Dimensions® Mini Snowflake Pan, this blond brownie takes shape to form a tasty flake. To get the same delicious result in less time, use yellow or butter cake mix. When baked, sprinkle with sugars.

Give Santa Something for the Road

Give Santa something to snack on between stops with our Gifts Galore Lollipops. Using melted Wilton Candy Melts®, paint accent colors on the inside of candy molds with a brush. Refrigerate until firm, and then fill the candy molds completely with melted candy. Add sticks and chill for just a few minutes more. They’re so easy to make, children of any age can help with this yummy treat for Santa.

A Study in Santa

In countries and cultures around the globe, Santa Claus has different names and different stories.  Here are just a few examples: 1

  • Swedish children wait eagerly for Jultomten, a gnome whose sleigh is drawn by the Julbocker, the goats of Thor (god of thunder). He dresses in red and carries a bulging sack on his back.
  • In China, Santa Claus is called Dun Che Lao Ren, which means Christmas Old Man. He brings presents to good children.
  • Papai Noel (Father Noel) is the gift-bringer in Brazil. According to legend, he lives in Greenland. When he arrives in Brazil, he usually wears silk clothing due to the summer heat.

In Denmark the gift bringer, Julemanden, carries a sack and his sleigh is drawn by reindeer. Elves called Juul Nisse are said to come from the children’s’ attics, to help Julemanden. Children leave them a saucer of milk or rice pudding in the attic and hope to find it empty in the morning.
