Rubber Duckies Make a Splash at First Birthdays

A timeless theme brightens up any first birthday party.

Approximately 85% of people surveyed in Wilton's Celebration Report agreed that family and friends were the most important reasons to hold a celebration. So it's no surprise that parents throw big parties for their child's first birthday. This year, why not host a bash that partygoers of all ages will enjoy? A time-honored symbol of childhood and simpler times, a Rubber Ducky party will help make it a birthday bash to remember.

"From kitchens to bathtubs across America -- the rubber ducky has been a symbol of light-hearted, good fun for generations," states Nancy Siler, consumer affairs director of Wilton Enterprises. "Wilton has found a way to carry that fun into important celebrations."

It All Starts with the Duck

A Rubber Ducky Cake will be the star of the party along with simple, time-saving baking and decorating tips. Create a unique, stand-up cake with Wilton's 3-D Rubber Ducky Pan that can double as a centerpiece for the table. Simply spread Wilton's tinted Ready-To-Use Decorator Icing on the cake with a spatula and voila!

Goin' Quackers for Rubber Ducky

The "Goin' Quackers" Cup Cakes will entice everyone at the party when served together with creatively decorated Duckling Cookies. Baked in minutes in Wilton's Standard Muffin Pan, matching Rubber Ducky Baking Cups, Sprinkles and Icing Decorations add color with ease to these delicious cupcakes. The duckling cookies, made with roll-out sugar cookie dough, are a snap when decorated with heated Ready-To-Use Decorator Icing.

"Rubber Ducky, You're the One Who Makes Parties So Much Fun!"

  • Start the party off with a trusty game of "Duck, Duck, Goose". Put a new twist on an old favorite and have participants bind their legs together for a three-legged version!
  • Create a batch of Duck Pond Punch at the next Rubber Ducky Party. Simply float a bunch of rubber duckies in a bowl of blue Kool-Aid® and have partygoers select one. If they select one with a star on the bottom - they win a prize.
  • Have the whole family gather around for a reading of the "Ugly Duckling".
  • Make individual bath-time party favors for each person in attendance. Fill a pail with a bottle of bubble bath, a sponge, bath paint and of course, a rubber ducky.
  • Turn the "Chicken Dance" into a "Duck Dance" and have people quack to the music while shaking their tail feathers.
