It's Easy as Pie!
Yes it's that time of year once again. January 23rd is National Pie Day and Wilton has all the latest additions to help make your pie day a memorable one.
When most people think of pies, apple, cherry, and blueberry come to mind. We say .when there's a "pie in the sky" there is no limit! Let's not forget no-bake pies, tart pies, cream pies, pudding pies, chicken pot pie, spinach pie, international pie, and even pizza pie! These are just some of the joys that come when you put on your apron and reach for the butter and flour! It's no wonder we love the homemade warm smells of a home baked pie.
In the cool days of winter use a Singles! pie pan™ to bake an individualized warm, flaky, apple pie served with cinnamon ice cream! Or try a French raspberry pie with hot buttery crust served with freshly brewed coffee. The Singles! pie pan™ are not only for pies. It can also be used for quiches as well. It is versatile for anytime of the year! How about trying sizzling taco pie with homemade spicy cornbread. Old-fashioned coconut cream pie is a chewy creamy way to soothe those cravings. Zucchini tart served with fresh steamed vegetables hits the spot for a light summer dinner. A smooth, heavenly, rich, slice of french silk pie will do any night, any day, anytime! The list is endless!
When the moon hits your eye like a big well we all know the ending to that little saying! It's pizza pie of course and boy are there endless combinations to making pizzas. After creating your crust use Wiltons pizza pie pan™ and choose a theme! Feel like Greek? Add some feta cheese, Greek olives, thinly sliced onions, dazzle some olive oil and oregano and savor into this scrumptious piece of paradise. Let's not take for granted the traditional tomato sauce and cheese. Add ramano, parmesan, and fontenella for a more intense flavor. Yum! What about dessert pizza. Use a shortbread dough for the crust and add nuts, carmel, chocolate, fudge, whipped cream or whatever fancy's your taste buds!
Many forget that a simple pie or tart can be decorated by using a metal or plastic cutter of any shape to enhance any holiday or theme. Just cut out shape with extra pie dough, brush back of cutout with egg white and place on top of pie or tart! A simple extra that takes but a minute. Homemade apple pie made in an apple shaped pie pan™ with cut-out leaves , apples, or even a snowman on top makes an attractive addition. A French apricot tart is light and elegant when topped with a thin layer of cream cheese, toasted almonds, and butterfly cut-outs. It helps remind us that spring is right around the corner.
These are some favorite recipes that will make your pie day exceptional.
