Maple Walnut Tea Bread

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter , melted
  • 1-1/3 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup real maple syrup
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons maple flavoring
  • 1-1/3 cups milk
  • 1 cup walnuts , toasted and chopped
  • Glaze
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 4 teaspoons pure maple syrup

About 16 - 20 servings.

Instructions:

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Spray 9.7" fluted tube pan well with vegetable pan spray.

Step 2

In medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt. In large bowl, whisk melted butter, sugar, maple syrup, eggs, maple flavoring and milk until smooth. Add flour mixture; whisk in gently until almost incorporated. Gently stir in walnuts. Do not overmix. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Step 3

Bake 50-60 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted in center come out clean. Cool 20 minutes in pan on a cooling grid. Remove from pan; cool completely before glazing.

Step 4

In small bowl, mix confectioners' sugar and maple syrup until completely combined. Drizzle over the cooled cake.
