Step 1

Make layered cake. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool two 6 in. cake layers. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Prepare, tort, fill and stack cakes for 2-layer cake, 3 in. high. Place cake on cake board, cut to fit. Use spatula and icing to ice cake smooth.

Step 2

Cut strips. Tint 10 oz. fondant violet. Use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use fondant trimmer to cut four panels, each 6 in. x 3 in. Place panels on parchment paper-covered board until ready to be used. Reserve remaining violet fondant.

Step 3

Make flower vine. Roll a 3/4 in. ball of violet fondant into a log, 3/16 in. dia. Arrange vines on panels and use knife to trim vines as needed. Prepare thinned fondant adhesive. Use brush and thinned fondant adhesive to attach vines to panels.

Step 4

Cut out leaves and flowers. Use straight edge of third smallest (1 5/8 in.) and smallest (7/8 in.) blossom cut-outs from set to cut flowers from fondant strips. Use straight edge of smallest (1/2 in. x 1 in.) leaf cut-out from set to cut leaves from strips. Reserve cut flowers and leaves.

Step 5

Make dimensional flowers and leaves. Use ball tool from starter tool set to cup reserved flowers and leaves on thick shaping foam. Use thin stick from modeling tool set to mark leaf veins. Use brush and thinned fondant adhesive to attach flowers and leaves to fondant panels. Use icing to attach strips to cake.

Step 6

Add details. Use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out remaining white and violet fondant, separately. Use narrow end of tip 6 to cut small flower centers. Use brush and thinned fondant adhesive to attach small flower centers.

Roll balls of white and violet fondant, separately, each 3/16 in., for medium flower centers. Use brush and thinned fondant adhesive to attach medium flower centers.

Roll 1/8 in. ball of violet fondant into a log, 1/16 in. dia., for leaf veins. Use knife to trim, if needed. Use brush and thinned fondant adhesive to attach leaf veins to centers of cut-outs leaf.

Roll 1 oz. violet fondant into four logs, each 3 in. x 1/8 in. dia. Use brush and thinned fondant adhesive to attach to side corners of cake.

Roll 2 oz. violet fondant into four logs, each 6 in. x 3/16 in. dia. Use brush and thinned fondant adhesive to attach to top seams of cake.

Roll 3 oz. violet fondant into four logs, each 6 in. x 1/4 in. dia. Use brush and thinned fondant adhesive to attach to bottom border.
