Mark 2 in. divisions at top and bottom of teal cakes with toothpick. Tint 6 oz. fondant yellow. Roll out yellow and reserved red and black fondant 1/16 in. thick. Use edge cutter to cut 1/4 in. wide red strips and 1/8 in. wide black and yellow strips, each 5 in. long. Starting at one corner, attach a red strip diagonally from top to bottom with damp brush, connecting at first and third markings. Attach a black strip, 1/8 in. from red. Attach a yellow strip against the red strip. Attach another group of strips diagonally from the next top marking, running in the opposite direction. Continue attaching groups of strips in lattice fashion around the cakes.
