Decorate cake. Prepare buttercream
icing following recipe directions. Tint
portions black, moss green/lemon yellow
combination (for green) and lemon yellow.
Use spatula and black icing to ice smooth
an area at back end of body, 5 in. wide x
4 in. deep. Use spatula to mark a curve
for face on head side of cake, 3 1/2 in. from
bottom edge. For wing division, mark a center line from base of head, 3 in. long,
then angling out to left and right to form a
triangle, 3 in. wide at bottom.
Use tip 3 and black icing to outline back
of head and face. Use tip 5 and black icing
to pipe oval eyes, 1 1/2 in. x 5/8 in., and 1 in.
apart. Use tip 17 and green icing to cover
face with stars. Use tip 17 and black icing
to cover back of head with stars.
Use tip 17 and icing to pipe zigzag stripes
in alternating rows of green and yellow,
starting with green at wing division.
Green rows are 5/8 in. wide, yellow rows
are 1/2 in. wide.
