Step 1

In advance: Make baby topper.

Tint fondant: 8 oz. skin tone; 1/8 oz. black; reserve small amount of white. Roll out 1/8 in. thick as needed. Prepare globe pillar. Cut a 6 in. dia circle to cover head, a 2 1/2 in. x 8 in. strip to cover top of body. Brush globes with piping gel and wrap with fondant, using hands to smooth. Use knife to cut away fondant from open holes. Cut a 1 1/2 in. x 8 1/2 in. white strip; attach for diaper using damp brush. Cut pillar to 4 1/2 in. long. Slide globes onto pillar. For arms, roll 5/8 in. dia.x 3 in. long logs; flatten end of hands and cut slits for fingers. Attach with piping gel. For ears, roll out some skin tone fondant; cut two circles using wide end of tip 3. Trim off 1/3; shape and attach to head. Roll tiny ball nose; attach. Roll and flatten small balls for cheeks; attach. Roll thin logs for eyes and smile; attach. For feet, shape two ovals 3/4 in. wide x 1 1/2 in. long x 1 1/4 in. thick. Flatten and taper; attach with piping gel. Roll and attach tiny ball toes in graduated sizes. Let dry. For yellow hair curl, roll a 1/8 in. dia. x 1 3/4 in. long log. Shape into curl and let dry flat. For bow, cut a 1/2 in. x 3 1/2 in. strip. Fold ends to center to form loops and attach using damp brush. For knot, cut a 1/4 in. x 1 in. strip. Wrap around center; secure with damp brush. Let dry on side. Reserve excess fondant.

Step 2

Also: Make cupped flowers. Reserve excess fondant.

Tint fondant: 1 oz. blue, 1 1/4 oz. yellow; 1 1/2 oz. orange; 1 1/2 oz. rose. Roll out 1/8 in. thick as needed. For cupped flowers, use medium Cut-Out to cut one pink, three blue and four yellow. Place on thick shaping foam and cup using small ball tool from set. Let dry in cornstarch-dusted melting plate. For centers, roll 1/4 in. dia. fondant balls in contrasting colors. Attach with piping gel. After assembled on cake, attach prepared cupped flower, curl and bow.

Step 3

Bake and cool 2-layer cake. Ice cake smooth. Tint 8 oz. fondant green; also use reserved pink and orange. Roll out fondant 1/8 in. thick as needed. For flower stems, cut 13 green strips, 3/16 in. wide in lengths from 2 in. to 3 1/2 in. Cut 26 green leaves using smallest Cut-Out from set. Place on medium foam and score veins using small veining tool from set.

Step 4

Cut a 6 in. diameter green circle. Use rotary cutter to cut a wavy edge. Position on cake top. Position baby topper. Roll a green log 1/8 in. diameter x 1 1/2 in. long for flower stem; attach in and under baby?s hand. Attach cupped pink flower, bow and hair curl using fondant adhesive.

Step 5

Bake and cool cupcakes. Ice tops with tip 1M swirl. Position butterfly wings. Roll 3/8 in. ball of reserved orange fondant into 1 in. long tapered body. Attach over wings using dots of icing. Position cupcake wrap. Position cupcakes around cake.
