Make mini cakes. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool mini cakes. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use spatula and icing to attach skull halves together.
Glaze mini cakes. Prepare confectioners? sugar glaze icing following recipe directions. Tint flesh color. Use brush to brush tinted glaze on mini cakes. Let dry 20 minutes. Repeat for a thicker coating if necessary.
Make hair. For base, tint 2 in. ball of white fondant flesh color. Knead in 1/4 teaspoon Gum-Tex. Shape into a cone, 2 in. high. Use glaze to attach to top of mini cakes.
For hair, melt black Candy Melts candy according to package directions. Use knife to cut 24 pieces of black shoestring licorice, 3 in. long. Dip 2 1/2 in. of licorice piece into melted black candy if too flexible. Place on parchment paper-lined cookie sheet and chill until set 3 to 5 minutes. Use knife to trim excess.
Use melted black candy to attach shoestring licorice pieces to cone base, inserting flexible end into cone base. Arrange all 3 in. long shoestring licorice pieces in front and half way around, Use knife to cut a piece of shoestring licorice, 6 in. long, wrap it around hair and tie into knot. Use knife to cut 24 pieces of shoestring licorice, 1 1/2 in. long. Insert into head to fill in under and around back of cone base.
Make eyes. For eye vein, tint 3/4 in. ball of white fondant red. Roll fondant into a tapered ball, 1/2 in. wide at base and 1 1/2 in. long. Use knife to make indents and grooves for veins.
Use melted black candy to attach vein to eye cavity and candy eyeballs to vein and eye cavity. Chill until set 3 to 5 minutes.
Add accents. Use brush and pink, brown and green Color Dust to brush on shadows and to create mouth, wrinkles and bruises.
