Step 1

2 DAYS IN ADVANCE

Make loops. Tint 2 oz. of white fondant each rose, lemon yellow/golden yellow combination (for yellow) and violet/rose combination (for violet). Knead 1/4 teaspoon Gum-Tex into each color.

Use 9 in. fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out each color 1/16 in. thick. Use patterns and knife to cut two each large yellow and violet loops, medium rose and violet loops and small yellow and rose loops. Reverse pattern for opposite sides. After cutting each, store under storage board flap.

Step 2

Assemble bows.Fold loops in half and use damp brush to secure ends. Use small end of veining tool from 10-pc. gum paste/ fondant tool set to make crease in center of loop. Slide a dowel rod in loop to maintain shape. Use veining tool to mark a crease on outside of loops. Remove loop from dowel rod. Use crumpled paper napkin to support.

Step 3

Use damp brush to attach two loops, overlapping ends. For knot, use knife to cut a strip, 1/2 in. wide x 11/2 in. long. Wrap around center of bow. Use damp brush to secure. Trim off excess fondant. Let bows dry 24 hours on cornstarch-dusted board. Prepare cake base. Prepare and cover 12 in. round silver cake base with white fondant. Reserve remaining fondant.

Step 4

1 DAY IN ADVANCE

Bake and cool 6 in. and 10 in. round cakes. 6 in. cake is two layers, 4 in. high. 10 in. cake is one layer, 3 in. high.

Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Tint portion of icing light rose. Use spatula to ice 10 in. cake smooth in light rose and 6 in. cake smooth in white. Prepare cakes for stacked construction. Stack cakes on cake base, positioning 6 in. cake 1 in. from back edge of 10 in. cake.

Step 5

Decorate cake. Use tip 4 and icing to pipe white bead bottom border on 6 in. cake and rose bead bottom border on 10 in. cake.

For polka dots, roll out white fondant 1/16 in. thick. Use wide end of tip 4 to cut out 35 to 45 dots. Use damp brush to attach randomly to 10 in. cake, 1.5 to 2 in. apart.

Step 6

Assemble cake. Melt white Candy Melts candy according to package directions. Use melted candy in cut disposable bag to attach lollipop stick vertically to right side of bows. Chill until firm, 3 to 5 minutes. Position bows from the top to bottom as follows. Trim sticks to fit for a staggered arrangement. Insert small yellow and rose bows in 6 in. cake. Insert medium violet and rose bows, then large yellow and violet bows in 10 in. cake.

Position Minnie candle on cake top.
