Step 1

Make cake. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cake. Place cake on a foil-wrapped cake board, cut to fit.

Step 2

Ice cake. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Tint black and red. Use spatula and black icing to ice cavities, head and triangle between wings smooth. Use spatula and red icing to ice body smooth.

Step 3

Decorate cake. Use red sugar to sprinkle wing areas. Place candy eyeballs on cake. Use tip 2 and black icing to pipe eyelashes. Place heart sprinkle for mouth.
