Rated 5 out of 5 by from These were very easy & fun to make. Just ice your cupcake (I used chocolate buttercream dyed black) then dip the cupcake into a bowl of black sanding sugar. Make your 3D skeleton heads using the candy mold (this can be a little time consuming depending on how many you make) then add the skulls & the picks on top. That's it, real simple, but looks impressive. They tasted great too if you like the crunch & sweetness of sugar, but if you don't you could always make them without the sugar... maybe use just regular black icing or chocolate cookie crumbs instead. My family & friends loved them & were really impressed, but my friends small children weren't that into them... they preferred the cute, not so scary, Halloween cupcakes that I made over these. I would say these cupcakes are better for older kids, teens, & adults, but not so much for little kids.
