Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is the first item I have ever returned to the store of Wilton's. I have used the smaller sized leveler and loved it so I was eager to use this on my first wedding cake. I used it on several practice cakes and to level the top and torte a five layer wedding cake (6"-14" layers). First, it did not have a height that matched three inches (I'd purposely overfilled my 3" pans so I'd have 3" layers). Second, it took some coaxing to get the cut started. And last, the blade was too flexible and this did not make for even cuts. Trying to cut in from different started points hoping to correct any unevenness just made it worse.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought this after my husband used my large cake leveler (that Wilton has for some reason discontinued) to cut styrofoam. The blade was shot after that so I threw it away w/the intention of buying a new one. I went to my local Hobby Lobby & all they had was this one or the small one with the string. I purchased this thinking it would be better b/c I could fold it for storage but to be blunt, it sucks! The blade is extremely flimsy & no matter how slow I go, my cake is NEVER level, one side is always higher than the other. I NEVER had that problem with the large cake leveler. Seems lots of people are having the same problem. So Wilton, what are you going to do to fix it?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I wish I had read reviews on the "Ultimate Cake Leveler" before purchasing and using!!!! :-( I am very disappointed with it. I made a 3 layer wedding cake and needed a larger leveler, so I used this item. Boy, was that a mistake!! My 14" square cake had to be remade because of how poorly the leveler did. My cake broke to pieces and wasn't usable. So, after making another 14"square cake, I was still not satisfied, but couldn't start over. Time was ticking. That cake looked like a slope. Luckily, I was able to put the lower part in the back so no one could see. The blade on the Ultimate Cake Leveler is very flimsy, to where it just cuts in any direction besides level. Will be taking it back to the store... PLEASE MAKE A MORE STURDIER LARGE CAKE LEVELER!! ;-(

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is terrible. It does not cut evenly. I baked a cake for a birthday party last night. While trying to level the cake, the blade apparently moved and my cake was very unlevel. I had to use a knife to correct it and lost half of my cake. Then I thought I could use it to slice the layer in half to put filling. Wrong! I started off centered on one side, but when I reached the other side it cut thru the top of my cake. It went crooked again. I was so disappointed that I quit for the night. I will check it today, but I believe that I will have to start over.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of Money I bought this leveler and had to resell it to someone else to get rid of it. I should have figured that the blade was too flimsy since it was fold-able but for some reason didn't. The blade will move around while you're leveling the cake, thus causing an uneven cut. If you've already used it, you probably ended up like me and wasted a cake. I've tried using this leveler on 5 different occasions and ended up having to remake the cake and level with my knife or floss instead. Don't waste your money on this leveler. It's garbage and nowhere near as sturdy as the old ones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I absolutely love this! every time, the cakes come out perfectly even! when i first started using it, i didn't know how and my cake was uneven. However, there is a technique to it, since the "knife" part of it is so wobbly! You only use one side of the blade. You dont put it in all the way, you keep half of it out, and keep turning it on a turntable. Perfect every time! Just practice it! and make sure your cake isn't rushed and that you completely cool it and take your time lifting it, or it will break!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'm not happy with this thing either. I was really looking for the small leveler with the wire but this was all my local Michael's had in stock. It's way overpriced (luckily I had a 50% coupon-would never pay upwards of $25 for this EVER) and the blade is VERY flimsy. It may be OK for drier cakes but horrible for dense, very moist cakes. I tried to used to trim the domes off a couple of very moist cakes and it bend up and just dragging across the top and tore the top of the cake. I didn't neet to trim very much so I end up just using a knife anyway. The blade will bend upwards when you start the cut so the caked ends up being uneven. I wish I still had the reciept to take it back. I'll keep looking for the other model. I hope Wilton looks at these reviews and changes this design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I was super excited to get to use this product, as i thought it would make leveling my cakes even the smallest bit easier. It DIDN'T!!! This product is horrible, the blade isn't sturdy enough, and its bending results in a totally uneven cut, as well as a large hole in the bottom layer of the cake! Also the mess it makes certainly didn't help! This is the first and last time I will ever use this cake leveler, possibly any cake leveler. So upset that i wasted my money on this product.
