  1. 3 DAYS IN ADVANCE

Make lace arches. Tape arch patterns #1, #2 and #3 to cake boards; cover with parchment paper.

Prepare Color Flow icing following recipe directions. Use tip 3 and full-strength icing to pipe 260 of arch #1, 350 of arch #2 and 240 of arch #3. Make extras to allow for breakage. Let dry 48 hours. Carefully remove from parchment.

  2. 2 DAYS IN ADVANCE

Bake and cool 6 in., 8 in. and 10 in. round cakes. 6 in. and 8 in. cakes are 5 in high (two layers, 2 1/2 in. high), 10 in. cake is 4 in. high (two layers, 2 in. high). Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use spatula to ice smooth. Prepare for stacked construction. Stack cakes on cake pedestal.

  3. Decorate border. Use tip 5 and white buttercream to pipe bead bottom border on 10 in. cake.
  4. 1 DAY IN ADVANCE

Position arches. Insert arches #1 and #2 on cake sides, overlapping and intertwining to create a lacework look. Lowest arches should align at 2 1/2 in. down from cake top. Insert arches #3 with one end on top of cake and the other end on side of cake.

  5. Add accents. Use tip 1 dots of Color Flow icing to attach white Sugar Pearls to center of arches in random fashion.
