*Optional time-saver: substitute poster board for color flow pieces.

Make airplane pattern out of color flow or poster board. When dry, add tip 3 message, attach lights to upper wing and pipe tip 3 flashers to lights. (If using poster board, add details right before serving.) Attach propeller to cookie, rudder to tail. Ice cakes smooth. Pipe tip 17 puff border to bottom layer, tip 3 message to top layer.

Position lower wings to bottom layer; stack cake layers. Pipe tip 17 zigzag plane nose. Edge cake top and around middle with tip 7 bead borders.

To make pilot, figure pipe tip 7 body, head, hands. Add tip 3 features, collar and tip 13 hair. Place half ball or egg mold atop pilot. Make two tip 3 wing props. Edge tailpieces with tip 3 beads. Attach tailpieces and propeller. Position upper wing on sugar cubes atop layer; attach wing props with color flow icing.
