Perfect for a baby shower or baby’s first birthday, this Teddy Bear Picnic Cake will be the hit of the party! Decorate like a pro with simple cutting techniques using Sugar Sheets!

Instructions:

Step 1

Bake and cool one-layer cake. Place on foil-wrapped cake board. Ice smooth with buttercream.

Step 2

Using Rotary Cutter, cut a strip, 7 1/4 long x 1/2 in. wide, from Light Pink Sugar Sheets! Starting at the bottom edge of cake, attach strip across cake with piping gel. Strip will end in the middle of the cake. Attach a second strip to continue where the first one ends to continue across the cake.

Step 3

Using Rotary Cutter, cut a strip, 7 1/4 long x 1/2 in. wide, from Light Blue Sugar Sheets! Place the strip next to the pink strip, spacing about 1/4 in. apart. Continue attaching strips in alternating colors, cutting one at a time, until the cake is covered in a plaid pattern.

Step 4

For the center blanket, use Rotary Cutter to cut a 7 x 7 in. square from Light Yellow Sugar Sheets! Use scissors to cut fringe, 3/4 in. deep and 1/8 in. wide. Gently curl up some of the fringe with your fingers. Attach to cake with piping gel.

Step 5

Using teddy bear cutter and FoodWriter marker, trace bear figure on the back side (shiny side) of Light Green Sugar Sheets! Cut out figure using scissors. Using wide end of tip 3, cut muzzle from Light Green Sugar Sheets! Attach muzzle to bear using piping gel. Draw details on bear using black and green FoodWriter markers. Attach bear to blanket using piping gel.
