Sweet and Simple Gingerbread House

Step 1

Prepare icing and decorating bag according to kit instructions.

Step 2

Assemble house. Before decorating house, at least 2 hours in advance, assemble house according to kit instructions. Let dry. Keep remainder of icing covered with a damp cloth until ready to decorate house.

Step 3

Create door and details. Use tip and icing from kit to outline front door and fill in with piped vertical lines. Attach mini flavored candies from kit around doorframe. Cut 1/8 in. off of bottom of mini sugared gum drop from kit. Use icing to attach for door window. Use tip and icing to pipe dot for doorknob; pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch.

Step 4

Create windows. Use tip and icing to outline windows on front and sides of cottage and pipe curtains. Cut 1/8 in. off of bottoms of mini sugared gum drops and then cut in half. (Save remaining halves for roof).

Use icing to attach cut mini sugared gum drop halves to window sides for shutters. Use icing to attach two mini flavored candies to tops of windows.

Step 5

Make wreath. Cut green gum drop candy ring from kit in half horizontally to make circle thinner. Use icing to attach to house. Cut red mini sugared gum drops into small pieces and use icing to attach to wreath for berries. Use tip and icing to pipe bow on wreath.

Step 6

Create details. Use tip and icing to pipe swirls above front windows and zigzags on house corners.

Step 7

Make roof details. Use tip and icing to pipe lattice. Use icing to attach saved pieces of mini sugared gum drop halves to alternating lattice lines. Use icing to pipe a line roof peak; attach mini sugared gum drops to peak.

Cut gum drop candy rings in half. Use tip and icing to pipe a line on front peak of house and attach cut gum drop candy rings.

Use tip and icing to pipe icicles on side eaves and back peak of house.

Step 8

Create base details. Use spatula and icing to ice board fluffy; attach mini flavored candies around base of house. For walkway, cut gum drop candy rings in half. Use icing to attach to side borders of walkway.
