Sweet 16 Hearts Cake

It’s her big day, so make sure she knows how special she is with this high-spirited cake. Cut all the hopping hearts from Sugar Sheets!, using our Layered Hearts Cutting Inserts for a variety of sizes.

Instructions:

Step 1

Bake and cool two-layer, 12 in. cake (bake two 1 1/2 in. layers for a 3 in. high cake). Place on foil-wrapped cake board. Ice smooth with light rose buttercream.

Step 2

Using black FoodWriter and 8 in. heart pan as a guide, trace heart shape onto back side (shiny side) of Bright Pink Sugar Sheets! Cut out heart with scissors and attach to center of cake with piping gel.

Step 3

Using black FoodWriter and “1” and “6” cutters from set as a guide, trace numbers onto back side (shiny side) of Purple Sugar Sheets! Cut out numbers with scissors and attach to center heart with piping gel.

Step 4

Using punch with Small, Medium and Large Heart Cutting Inserts, cut various size hearts from Light Pink, Bright Pink and Purple Sugar Sheets! Attach to cake with piping gel.

Step 5

Using buttercream and tip 18, pipe shell bottom border.
