Sparkling Spruce Cake

Deck the tree with boughs of bright icing and set the season all aglow. This festive fir trimmed with pearl garlands and frosted in snow icing highlights reflects the simply beauty of the holiday.


Difficulty: Somewhat Easy


Step 1

Bake and cool cake. Ice background areas and sides of cake smooth. Pipe tip 18 string tree trunk. Cover tree with tip 3 and 233 pull-out needles. Attach pearl beading in one strand, starting at top and draping at varied intervals. Overpipe some pearls with tip 233 pull-out needles. Add tip 3 bead lights.

Step 2

Pipe tip 5 drifted snow around tree trunk and on boughs, shaping icing with small tapered spatula. Sprinkle snow with Cake Sparkles. Pipe tip 2B band at bottom border. Edge band with tip 5 beads. Add tip 3 zigzag garland. Pip tip 1 snowflakes and dots. Place confectioners sugar in tea stainer and dust top of tree.

Note: To achieve the icing colors shown, follow these formulas: Royal Blue and Violet combined produces the blue shade; Kelly Green, Black and Royal Blue combined produces the green shade.
