Quiet Violets Cake

Experienced decorators always keep an assortment of dried royal icing flowers on hand. Then when they need a dessert in a hurry, it’s super easy to create a cake like this!

Instructions:

Step 1

In advance: Make flowers on waxed paper squares using royal icing.

Step 2

Make approximately 30 tip 59 violets in dark violet with tip 1 dot centers in buttercup yellow.

Step 3

Make approximately 40 tip 102 apple blossoms in light violet with tip 2 dot centers in buttercup yellow.

Step 4

Make extras to allow for breakage and let dry in small flower formers.

Step 5

Ice 2-layer cake smooth in buttercream. Pipe tip 21 shell bottom border. Attach flowers; add tip 352 leaves.

Step 6

Pipe tip 3 dots on top and sides of cake. Position on stand.

*Note: Combine Violet with a little Rose to make dark and light violet shades shown.
