Difficulty: Somewhat Easy

Instructions:

Step 1

In advance, make fondant rompers and letters. Add 1/2 teaspoon of Gum-Tex to 16 oz. of fondant. Tint portions pink, green, yellow and blue. Roll out fondant 1/8 in. thick and use romper cutter to cut two of each color. Use letter cutters to cut the word, “BABY.” Let dry on cornstarch-covered board.

When completely dried, melt white Candy Melts candy according to package directions. Attach 4 in. lollipop sticks to the backs of letters with melted candy. Let set.

Step 2

Prepare icing and tint portions pink, green, blue and yellow; reserve some white. Use tip 2 and white icing to pipe dots on centers of letters. Use tip 2 and matching color icing to outline rompers and add button dots.

Step 3

Individually prepare three boxes of white cake mix following package instructions. Divide batter into two portions. In one portion of batter, gently stir in Sky Blue Icing Color to desired shade. (Use clean toothpicks to transfer color from jar to batter.) Repeat with Rose Icing Color to color second portion.

Step 4

For bottom layer, place Batter Dividing Ring in the first prepared pan. Pour rose-colored batter in outer and center sections and blue-colored batter in middle section. Fill sections 2/3 full. Remove ring from pan by carefully lifting straight up on handles. Rinse and completely dry ring.

Step 5

For top layer, repeat step 4 in second prepared pan. Remove ring from pan by carefully lifting straight up on handles. Rinse and completely dry ring.

Step 6

For middle layer, place clean and dry ring in third prepared pan. Pour blue-colored batter in outer and center sections and rose-colored batter in middle section. Fill sections 2/3 full. Remove ring from pan by carefully lifting straight up on handles. DO NOT PUT RING IN OVEN.

Step 7

Bake and cool cake according to mix directions. Stack cakes on foil-wrapped cake circle. Ice cake smooth with white icing and spatula.

Step 8

Use cake dividing chart to divide cake into eighths. Attach rompers on sides at division points using tip 4 and dots of icing.

Step 9

Use tip 4 and white icing to pipe bottom bead border.

Step 10

Place confetti on cake top and insert letters into cake.
