It’s a class reunion on this fun yearbook cake, made in our Book Pan! Create the custom faces with rolled fondant and add names and messages with FoodWriter Edible Color Markers.

Instructions:

Step 1

In advance: Prepare base board. Cut 2 Cake Boards to 13 x 17 in. Tape together, wrap in foil and cover with 40 oz. brown rolled fondant (link to technique on p. 120). Bake and cool cake. Position on cut-to-fit Cake Board. Ice smooth. Comb sides using small tooth edge of comb. Position on board.

Step 2

Roll out 24 oz. fondant 1/8 in. thick; place on top of pan and trim to size. Transfer to cake top and smooth. Tint fondant: 6 oz. violet, 6 oz. blue (or gown color), 3 oz. gray, 3 oz. various skin tones (link to technique on p. 146), 1 oz. red. Roll out 1/8 in. thick as needed.

Step 3

For individual pictures, cut 18 squares using medium Cut-Out; for trio picture, cut a 3 x 5 in. rectangle. Attach backgrounds using damp brush. Using People Cut-Outs cut 21 heads in various skin tones; attach. Use shirt cutter to cut 3 shirts; adjust to fit trio and attach.
