Instructions:

Step 1

In advance: Make car. Tint fondant: 3 oz. pink, 1 oz. gray, 1 oz. dark pink, 1 oz. black. Add 1/8 teaspoon Gum-Tex to each color. Add 1/2 teaspoon Gum-Tex to 6 oz. white fondant. Tint small amount red. Roll out all 1/8 in. thick as needed. Using pattern as a guide, cut white base, sign and license plate background. Cut pink car back, license plate and fender, dark pink hearts, black roof and wheels, gray wheel wells and cans. Paint wheel wells and cans with silver Pearl Dust/vanilla mixture. Use toothpick to mark line for can top. Let all pieces dry flat on cornstarch-dusted boards.

Step 2

Also in advance: Prepare base board and cover with 24 oz. black fondant.

Step 3

Bake and cool 1-layer cake. Prepare and cover with pale pink rolled fondant . Attach fondant pieces using damp brush. Use tip 1s to print message and license plate; outline strings and knots to cans. Pipe tip 7 bead bottom border.

* Combine Pink with Ivory for pale pink covering cake.
* Combine Pink with a little Royal Blue for darker pink hearts.
* Combine Christmas Red with Red-Red for red shown.
