Mini Hearts Cake

Decorated with tons of tiny hearts, this cake will add a lot of love to any celebration. Decorating is simple using Sugar Sheets! and tools. Pretty roses top this cake for a festive touch.

Instructions:

Step 1

Bake and cool 6 in. and 10 in. two-layer cakes. Tint half of buttercream light rose. Ice sides of cake with light rose buttercream. Ice tops with white buttercream. Prepare for stacked construction.

Step 2

Using cake divider, divide top tier into eighths. Using metal circle cutter and black FoodWriter, trace circle on White Sugar Sheets! Cut circle. Create a semi-circle by trimming 1 1/2 in. off the circle. Place semi-circle on side of cake between eighths so that the straight edge meets the top edge of cake. Brush back with piping gel and attach to cake. Repeat for remaining eighths. Using tip 3 and buttercream, pipe bead on top edge.

Step 3

Using punch with Small Heart Cutting Insert, punch six hearts from Bright Pink Sugar Sheets! Using piping gel, attach hearts around White Sugar Sheets! semi-circles on cake. Repeat for remaining semi-circles, using six hearts per semi-circle.

Step 4

Using cake divider, divide bottom tier into eighths. Using largest circle cutter from cutter set and black FoodWriter, trace circle on White Sugar Sheets! Cut circle. Create a semi-circle by trimming 1 1/2 in. off circle. Place semi-circle on side of cake between eighths so that the straight edge meets the top edge of cake. Using tip 3 and buttercream, pipe bead on top edge.

Step 5

Using punch with Small Heart Cutting Insert, punch eight hearts from Bright Pink Sugar Sheets! Using piping gel, attach hearts to curve of White Sugar Sheets! semi-circles on cake. Repeat for remaining curves, using eight hearts per curve.

Step 6

For bottom border, use Rotary Cutter to cut seven strips, 8 in. long x 3/4 in. wide, from the short end of Bright Pink Sugar Sheets! Using piping gel, attach four strips to bottom tier and three strips to top tier. Trim if necessary.

Step 7

Using Rotary Cutter, cut two strips, 10 1/2 in. long x 1 1/2 in. wide, from the long end of Bright Pink Sugar Sheets! Make ribbon roses using one strip each. For larger roses, use four strips.

Step 8

Using punch with Leaf Cutting Insert, punch five leaves from Light Green Sugar Sheets! Shape on Wave Flower Former. Let dry 10 minutes.

Step 9

Position roses and leaves on top of cake. Secure with buttercream.
