Toy sailboat? Check. Beach ball? Check. Cool shades? Check. Get a Huggable Bear Pan cake ready for the beach by adding piped icing togs and playthings made from cookies.

Step 1

Prepare cookie recipe, roll out and cut two circles, divide one circle in half to create boat shape. Bake and cool cookies. Ice boat cookie smooth in red.

Step 2

For beach ball cookie, outline and pipe in sections using tip 3, pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch. Pipe tip 3 dot center. Set aside.

Step 3

Ice cake sides and background areas smooth. Outline bear and clothing with tip 3. Pipe in mouth, nose, inside ears, paw pads and sunglass lenses with tip 3; smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch.

Step 4

Cover bear, shirt and pants with tip 16 stars. Pipe tip 16 zigzag waistband. Pipe tip 7 outline sunglasses frame; overpipe for added dimension.

Step 5

Cut a 3 in. triangle sail out of parchment. Attach sail to stick with tape. Attach stick to back of boat cookie with dots of icing.

Step 6

Position boat and beach ball cookies on cake, securing with dots of icing. Pipe tip 7 band of icing along bottom border, cover with granulated brown sugar.
