Fearsome Face Cake
4 Pretzel rods
Cake serves 10.
Bake and cool one-layer, 8 in., cake. Place on foil-wrapped cake circle. Ice smooth with leaf green buttercream.
Make hair curls by using Rotary Cutter to cut five strips, 6 1/2 long x 1/2 in. wide, five strips, 4 1/2 long x 3/8 in. wide, and five strips, 3½ long x 1/4 in. wide, from Black Sugar Sheets! Loosely wrap strips around dowel rod. Let set.
Using punch with Large Circle Cutting Insert, cut two eyes from White Sugar Sheets! Using punch with Small Circle Cutting Insert, cut two pupils from Black Sugar Sheets! Attach pupils to eyes with piping gel. Attach eyes to cake using piping gel.
Using punch with Small Circle Cutting Insert, cut nose from Purple Sugar Sheets! Attach to cake using piping gel.
For mouth, use Rotary Cutter to cut a rectangle, 3 long x 4 in. wide, from Black Sugar Sheets! Round off sides of black rectangle. For teeth, cut a rectangle, 1 1/4 long x 4 in. wide, from White Sugar Sheets! Using Rotary Cutter, cut teeth from white rectangle. Attach mouth to cake with piping gel. Attach teeth, brushing only outside edge with piping gel. Position cotton balls under teeth to raise slightly. Let dry 30 to 45 minutes.
Using punch with Small Circle Cutting Insert, cut 13 dots from Bright Green Sugar Sheets! Attach to cake using piping gel.
Trim two pretzel rods to 3 in. long and two pretzel rods to 4½ in. long. Cover with buttercream. Using Rotary Cutter, cut rectangles, 3 long x 2 in. wide, from Purple Sugar Sheets! Wrap around 3 in. pretzels. Cut rectangles, 4 1/2 long x 2 in. wide, from Purple Sugar Sheets! Wrap around 4 1/2 in. pretzels.
For hands and feet, use punch with Flower Cutting Insert to cut four flowers from Red Sugar Sheets! Remove two petals from each flower before attaching to arm and legs using piping gel. Insert pretzel rods into cake. Arrange hair around top of cake.
