Instructions:
Step 1
We suggest that you tint all icings at one time while cake cools. Refrigerate tinted icing in covered containers until ready to use. Bring to room temperature for decorating.
Make 3 2/3 cups buttercream icing:
• Tint 3/4 cup Lemon Yellow/Golden Yellow combination
• Tint 1/3 cup black
• Tint 1/2 cup red
• Tint 1/3 cup gray
• Reserve 1 3/4 cups white (thin 1 cup with 2 teaspoons light corn syrup)
Step 2
Decorate in Order:
Trace pan shape on cake board. Cut board and wrap with Fanci-Foil Wrap. Position cake on board.
Step 3
Ice sides and background areas smooth with thinned white icing.
Step 4
Use tip 3 and red icing to outline cab, window and front wheel well.
Step 5
Use tip 3 and Lemon Yellow/Golden Yellow combination icing to outline trailer, windows, back wheel well and top rim.
Step 6
Use tip 3 and gray icing to outline bumpers, running board and connecting shaft.
Step 7
Use tip 8 and red icing to pipe in inside of front wheel well, headlight area and door handle (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
Step 8
Use tip 8 and Lemon Yellow/Golden Yellow combination icing to pipe in inside of back wheel well, windows, headlight and top rim (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
Step 9
Use tip 8 and gray icing to pipe in bumpers, running board and connecting shaft (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
Step 10
Use tip 8 and gray icing to pipe zigzag exhaust pipe (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
Step 11
Use tip 3 and gray icing to pipe in hubcaps (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
Step 12
Use tip 3 and black icing to pipe dot axle and bolts on tires.
Step 13
Use tip 8 and black icing to pipe in openings between tire treads (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
Step 14
Use tip 8 and black icing to pipe in tires and treads (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).
Step 15
Use tip 18 and red icing to cover cab with stars.
Step 16
Use tip 18 and Lemon Yellow/Golden Yellow combination icing to cover trailer with stars.
Step 17
Use tip 21 and white icing to pipe shell bottom border.
