Here’s how to build a better gingerbread boy! Our Cupcake Kid uses cookie shapes cut from arm and leg patterns and 2 standard cupcakes. Ice with chocolate buttercream for an authentic gingerbread boy look. Hand him a mini candy cane and he is ready to party!

Instructions:

Step 1

Roll out dough. Trace arm and leg patterns on dough with toothpick; cut out cookies with paring knife. Bake and cool cookies and cupcakes.

Step 2

Ice cookies and cupcakes smooth using chocolate icing. Position on cake circle. Insert arms and legs in cupcake body.

Step 3

Decorate all trims using tip 4. Pipe white dot buttons, cheeks and nose (pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).

Step 4

Add black dot eyes (pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).

Step 5

Roll out green spice drops on waxed paper sprinkled with granulated sugar. Cut two 3/4 x 1 1/2 in. strips for bow tie loops; fold over and trim to shape with scissors. Pinch ends together. Cut oval from spice drop for bow knot; attach with dots of icing.

Step 6

Attach bow tie with dots of icing. Attach mini candy cane to arm with dots of icing.
