Hip hues and mod motifs evoke a too-cool-for-school attitude. Use layer patterns, circles, stripes and numbers cut from Sugar Sheets! to herald a teen-to-adult passage

Instructions:

Step 1

Bake and cool one-layer cake. Place on foil-wrapped cake circle. Ice smooth with white buttercream.

Step 2

Using Circle Cutter, cut two semi-circles, with 10 in. diameter, from Yellow Stars Sugar Sheets! Attach to cake with piping gel to form a 10 in. diameter circle.

Step 3

Using Circle Cutter, cut a 7 1/2 in. diameter circle from Light Blue Sugar Sheets! Attach to cake using piping gel.

Step 4

Using Rotary Cutter, cut eight strips, 8 long x 1/2 in. wide, from White Sugar Sheets! Attach strips, 1/2 in. apart, to blue circle using piping gel. Trim as needed.

Step 5

Using Circle Cutter, cut a 5 1/2 in. diameter circle from Light Yellow Sugar Sheets! Attach to cake using piping gel.

Step 6

Using numbered cookie cutters as a guide and black FoodWriter, trace shapes on back side (shiny side) of Red Sugar Sheets! Using narrow end of tip 10, cut dots from Light Pink Sugar Sheets! Attach dots to numbers using piping gel. Trim dots to fit as needed. Attach numbers to cake using piping gel.

Step 7

Using tip 10 and buttercream, pipe bead border around base of cake.
