Another Successful Landing cake is one giant leap for cake decorating. The astronaut, made with the Stand-Up Cuddly Bear pan, plants the American flag in a lunar landscape cake.

Instructions:

Step 1

Ice 1-layer round cake smooth.

Step 2

Roll approximately 8 oz. fondant into a long rope 1/2 in. diameter. Cut rope into various lengths and join ends to form rings. Lightly brush backs of rings with brush dipped in water and position on cake for craters.

Step 3

Tint remaining fondant light gray and cover cake to create a moon effect on surface; spray with Color Mist™!.

Step 4

Insert dowel rod into cake where astronaut will be positioned. Cut cake board to fit bottom of bear cake; cover board with fondant; position bear cake on board.

Step 5

Trim muzzle, left arm and right hand off bear. Cut a 4 1/2 in. length of dowel rod for left arm; insert into shoulder leaving approximately 2 1/2 in. exposed.

Step 6

Ice face area smooth. Pipe tip 4 dot eyes and nose, tip 3 string mouth and dot pupils.

Step 7

Outline helmet with tip 4; cover suit and helmet with tip 18 stars.

Step 8

Overpipe right arm with tip 18 stars to build up. For extended arm, shape a 1 in. ball of fondant for hand and attach to a 3 in. length of lollipop stick. Insert hand on stick in arm, securing with additional fondant if needed.

Step 9

Insert 2 in. long straw in hand to form opening for flag. Pipe-in hand with tip 6, outline fingers with tip 4.

Step 10

Carefully twist and remove straw. Insert flag into opening in hand.

Note: Combine Christmas Red and Red-Red colors to achieve shade used.
